The Artist

Jean François Larouche, known as Monsieur Jee, is a Montreal based artist working at the intersection of illustration, identity, and urban culture.

Through minimal black line drawings and bold compositions, his work captures moments of humor, intimacy, and human connection.

Drawing has always been the starting point of my creative world.

Over time that instinct evolved into a broader practice that moves between illustration, tattoos, street interventions, and speculative storytelling. My work is built around a simple visual language: strong black lines, minimal forms, and striking accents of color.

Queer culture, everyday moments, humor, and intimacy often appear in my drawings. Some pieces are playful, others more provocative, but they all share the same intention: exploring how we see ourselves and how we connect with others.

For me, drawing is not only about creating images. It is a way of observing the world and leaving small visual signals inside it.

Creative Path

My creative journey began in graphic design and gradually expanded into interactive design and creative direction.

Technology quickly became part of my artistic toolkit.

Working in digital design exposed me to new tools and new ways of thinking about visual communication.

Instead of separating design and art, I allowed both worlds to influence each other.

Over time my practice expanded beyond traditional design. Illustration, photography, tattoos, and street documentation slowly became part of the same creative ecosystem.

Today my work moves between physical and digital spaces. A drawing can live on paper, on skin as a tattoo, appear in the city through street interventions, or become part of a larger speculative narrative.

Each medium becomes another way to explore the same ideas.
